BAFFI Awards

This year the BAFFI (Box and Fiddle Fellowship Input) Awards will follow a different voting process to previous years, allowing our Member Accordion & Fiddle Clubs and their patrons to have a larger say in how votes are cast.

Category 1 - Guest Artist of the Year
Each of the 50 member clubs will be responsible for selecting their own Guest Artist of the Year from the list of Guest Artists which have appeared at their particular club during the previous 12 months prior to the April/May meeting.
Only Guest Artists appearing at that particular club during the season can be voted for by the members/audience attending the club meeting where votes are cast. The guest artist appearing at the meeting which the vote takes place at will not be eligible for that year’s vote and will be considered for the following year’s award. This prevents the vote being swayed by “most recent in the memory” votes. The NAAFC have helpfully collated each club’s Guest Artist list for 2025/26 which will be emailed to all Club Secretaries for them to print and collect votes upon. This keeps this category’s nomination process totally within the clubs’ remit. How the vote is managed at club meeting is entirely up to each club. A few ideas which
could work include:
  • Voters marking their preference on the NAAFC provided Guest Artist List for 2025/26.
  • A delegated club official tallying votes as patrons arrive at the club meeting.
  • Comperes hosting a vote by reading out that year’s Guest Artists and counting votes by a show of hands.
Each club delegate would be responsible for collating the votes and emailing their club’s Guest Artist of the year, together with numbers of all votes cast to boxandfi[email protected] (by 31st May 2026).
The NAAFC would collate all member club votes on a master spreadsheet, the winner for that year being the guest artist with the highest number of club votes. Only in the event of a tie would the total number of votes cast be used to establish the winner. Individuals would be permitted to vote at more than one member club, should they be an attender at a meeting during the year, and are in attendance to vote on that particular club’s “voting meeting”. The top four Guest Artists for that Season will be notified by the 1st June 2026 and invited to attend the Presentation Luncheon on 28th June 2026.

Category 2 - Club Supporter of the Year
This category will fundamentally change in the way it will be awarded. Each member club will be invited to nominate their “Club Supporter of the Year” for their own particular club as a means of recognising an individual who deserves wider
recognition and reward for their excellent contribution to that club. The NAAFC will provide each winning Club Supporter with a year-long Individual Membership (expiring 31st May 2027) together with a branded tote bag, pen, badge and
car window sticker which will be presented to them at the Presentation Luncheon on 28th June 2026. How each club selects their “Club Supporter of the Year” is entirely at the club committee’s discretion. Each club delegate would be responsible for submitting their club’s nomination along with a short reasoning of the merits of that particular individual, demonstrating why they are worthy of the overall National title of “Club Supporter of the Year”. To decide which individual wins the overall BAFFI Award, the NAAFC Executive Committee will review the member clubs’ submission and reasoning and make their decision on a merits basis. The top four Club Supporters for that Season will be notified by the 1st June 2026 and invited to attend the Presentation Luncheon on 28th June 2026.

Category 3 – Accordion & Fiddle Club of the Year
We have listened to public opinion and will provide a hybrid solution in this category whereby votes will be accepted by the following means:
  1. Online questionnaire at VOTE HERE
  2. Email to boxandfi[email protected]
  3. Postal votes to NAAFC, c/o 3 Bellefield Crescent, Lanark, ML11 7QY
(email and postal votes to include name, address and contact telephone number for verification purposes, anonymous votes will not be counted)
The top four Clubs for that Season will be notified by the 1st June 2026 and invited to attend the Presentation Luncheon on 28th June 2026.

2026/2027 A&F Club of the Year
Next season, 2026/27, we are re-considering that this category may only be voted for by Individual Members of the NAAFC & Guest Artists who have appeared at any member club during that season.

We have attempted to address concerns raised in recent years in respect of the BAFFI voting process and hope you will continue to support this valuable element of the Box & Fiddle Club season.
